2011 Fair Queen Contestants and Crowning:
The purpose of the Fair Queen Competition Program is to promote the education of young women in Pennsylvania through the operation of a scholarship program providing educational opportunities for selected applicants. It also promotes greater public understanding and awareness of agriculture and its importance to Pennsylvania. Trying out for the 2011 Fair Queen this year were Casey Eckenrode of Duncansville, Sara Schrader of Salix, Taylor Akers of Johnstown, Julie Veneskey of Carrolltown, Rose Reed of Cresson, Rebecca Yakicic of New Germany and Alyssa Wills of Dysart. Taylor Akers was crowned the 2011 Cambria County Fair Queen and Rose Reed was crowned 2011 Fair Princess.
