THERE ARE MANY CHANGES IN ALL DEPARTMENTS, PLEASE READ ALL RULES CAREFULLY
 
ANIMAL HEALTH RULES ARE SET FORTH BY THE PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND MUST BE ADHERED TO
 
PENNSYLVANIA SHEEP REQUIREMENTS:
1.
A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued within 30 days prior to the Opening Day of Fair.
2.
All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required on the CVI (the statement is pre-printed in the CVI). Animals appearing unhealthy upon arrival may not enter the exhibition grounds.
3.
An Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) form must accompany each animal, and must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition.
4.
Individual official USDA scrapie animal identification is required. Official scrapie ID includes:
 
a.
Am official USDA scrapie eartag. Contact the USDA to obtain scrapie eartags at 1-866-873-2824, weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM. Your order may take several weeks for processing, so order tags early.
 
b.
A USDA-approved scrapie tattoo with individual animal ID (tattoo); or
 
c.
An ISO-compliant 15-digit (including RFID) tag.
 
d.
A USDA-approved custom scrapie eartag.
5.
A current rabies vaccination administered by a licensed veterinarian is required for animals 3 months of age and older (market sheep are exempt from this vaccination requirement). All vaccine label directions must be followed, and all rabies vaccinated sheep must be accompanied by a rabies vaccination certificate or the vaccination information must be included on the CVI. If a rabies vaccination certificate is provided, the certificate must contain legible name and contact information of the veterinarian who administered the vaccine and the veterinarian’s signature. A copy of the rabies vaccination certificate is acceptable.
 
OUT OF STATE SHEEP:
1.
A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued within the 60 days prior to the opening date of the exhibition is required. The CVI shall include a statement verifying that “all animals identified on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection have been examined and found to be free from Vesicular Stomatitis (VS). During the past 90 days these animals have neither been exposed to VS nor located within 10 miles of a site where VS has been diagnosed.”
2.

CAMBRIA COUNTY FAIR REQUIREMENTS:
1.
All sheep will be inspected before being penned. Individual sheep may be inspected after being penned. All Health papers and animals will be checked and rules will be enforced.
2.
All 4-H and Vocational Market Lambs must be in the barn by Sunday 12:00 Noon. Any animal of unthrifty nature, unsuitable condition, or which cannot be satisfactorily handled under show conditions must be removed from the Fairgrounds.
3.
Pen of Lambs consists of two Ram Lambs and two Ewe Lambs.
4.
A Flock consists of one Ram any age, two Ewes 1 year and under 2 years, two Ewes under 1 year.
5.
Breeder’s Young Flock consists of one Ram Lamb and two Ewe Lambs, all bred and owned by exhibitor
6.
A Get of Sire shall consist of four breeding animals, any age or sex, the Get of one Sire. The Get need not be owned by the exhibitor
7.
One Animal Breed Per Entry Form.
8.
Good Housekeeping for all Departments will be judged as follows
 
- Cleanliness of Animal
15 Points
 
- Cleanliness of Bedding
15 Points
 
- Entry Card and Ribbons Won Properly Displayed with Animal
20 Points
 
- Keeping Hay and Feed Presentable
10 Points
 
- Keeping all Equipment Sanitary and Neat
10 Points
 
- Keeping Aisles Clean
15 Points
 
- Courtesy to People
15 Points
9.
Market Lambs should be purchased on or before June 1st and be born in the current year.
10.
All Market Lambs are required to be in their assigned pens at the Cambria County Fairgrounds by Sunday 12:00 Noon. All Lambs will be weighed as a group on Sunday at 3:00 PM. (Weight Limits, 80 - 150 lbs). Animals will only be weighed one time. Those not making weight are not eligible for the Market Shows or Sale, but would still be eligible for Showmanship classes.
11.
Show Sale Regulations for Lambs:
 
Show Stewards will be present during the 4-H contest on Tuesday. The Barn Superintendents will meet with the Judge and Show Stewards prior to the contestants to determine acceptable/unacceptable behavior in preparation for, and during the Market Show, both in the Barn and the Show Ring. Exhibitors/Parents will be made aware of unacceptable methods/behaviors prior to the Show. Show Stewards will be assigned to both the Barn and the Ring to monitor actions and will notify the Barn Superintendents and Judge of any infractions. Any exhibitor/family member/assistant failing to abide by the behavior standards will result in disqualification from the Market Contest.
12.
Lambs shown in Breeding Classes cannot be shown in Market Classes or Vice Versa. 4-H and Vocational Lamb Exhibitors may sell 2 Lambs through the Cambria County Livestock Sale. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Lambs must be sold in the sale.
13.
County Bred:
 
The County Bred Class will consist of any Market Lamb, Ewe or Wether born and raised in Cambria County after January 1st of the current year. Two entries per member will be allowed. The Weight class will be determined after the Weigh - In
14.
Following the Market Show, members are required to inform the Extension Staff of animal(s) to be cataloged for the sale. Failure to comply will result in the animal(s) being sold through the Livestock Auction.
15.
A commission of 2% of gross sales per head sold through the sale will be collected and used for advertising and other sale expenses. The Lamb Promotion check-off of .005 cents per pound will also be deducted.
16.
Showmanship:
 
Cambria County 4-H or Vocational members may show an animal in the Showmanship Contest providing it has been carried as a project and is owned by the exhibitor, In the event a 4-H member animal is not on the grounds due to sickness or death, another 4-H Lamb may be used in the Contest.
17.
Stockman:
 
4-H and Vocational Livestock Club Members will enter as an individual. Contestants will complete a management quiz and take part in several skill stations which may include:
 
a. Feed Identification
 
b. Equipment Identification
 
c. Breed Identification
 
d. Quality Assurance
 
e. Meats Cuts Identification
 
f.  Hands on Skill (Haltering/Shearing/Carding)
  g. Judging Market Lamb
